History

On November 19, 2009, UPMC Hamot and Kane Community Hospital (KCH) announced an official affiliation between the two hospitals aimed at enhancing the services for the Kane community.

KCH and UPMC Hamot representatives developed an agreement that means greater access to UPMC Hamot physicians and services for patients in Kane and the surrounding area. This agreement is not the first between UPMC Hamot and KCH.

The long-standing and cooperative relationship between KCH and UPMC Hamot was formed nearly 10 years ago with UPMC Hamot extending its cardiology services to patients in the Kane area. Through a vision for achieving excellence in patient care, the cooperative relationship between UPMC Hamot and KCH continued to evolve over the years to include education and staffing, medical staff grand rounds, pharmacy after-hours coverage and a sophisticated telemedicine program. In December 2008, Johnsonburg Medical Park was the first official joint venture between the two organizations.

In April 2010, UPMC Hamot Emergency Medicine physicians began staffing the KCH Emergency Department 24-hours a day, thus enhancing emergency care for area residents. The collaboration provides streamlined services and greater access to the region's only Trauma Center in addition to UPMC Hamot's Accredited Cardiac and Neurologic Centers, both nationally recognized for treating heart attacks and strokes.
