The speech language pathologists at UPMC Hamot are licensed healthcare professionals who focus on improving communication, swallowing and voice difficulties in patients ranging from newborn to the elderly population. They are dedicated to every patient. Patient involvement is extremely important in the decision making process and respect is given to individual plan of care.
Each speech language pathologist at UPMC Hamot holds a master’s degree in communication disorders and a certification for clinical competence. They are state licensed and members of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). Together they have over 50 years of experience in various clinical settings.

UPMC Hamot’s Speech Language Department hours of service are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The department is located on the ground floor of the south complex of UPMC Hamot. A limited number of late afternoon/early evening appointments are available.
